Making Ringtones Vx8100

How do I make audio files from my computer into a ringtone?

I have lots of different audio files on my computer. There are a lot of them that I think would make good ringtones. I have no idea how to convert these into the proper format and then get them sent to my phone as a usable ringtone. Here is the thing — I want this done for FREE no strings attached. My phone is an LG VX8100 and my carrier is Verizon wireless. Can you tell me how to accomplish this? Thank you in advance!
