Ringtones At Geico

Why won’t my iPod Touch connect with my cell phone via bluetooth?
Ok, so I was watching that commercial for GEICO with the stupid ringtones and went to their website to download one. I’ve successfully downloaded the ringtone I want to my iTunes library and have it uploaded to my iPod. My idea was to bluetooth the song to my cell phone and set it as my ringtone. I have both my iPod Touch and my cell (a Samsung Propel from AT&T) set with bluetooth turned on and both are discoverable. According to my cell phone, it can detect the iPod but is unable to link to it. On the other hand, my iPod can’t discover the cell phone so I can’t connect to it that way. Is there anything I’m doing wrong or does iPod just not link to AT&T products?
The iPod touch can only link with stereo Bluetooth headphones (look up a2dp if you want to know more) and to a few headsets (that too only the BT speaker, not the BT mike portion). AT&T products do not come into the picture, in fact, it would make more sense for Apple to block out “There’s a map for that” Verizon devices.
Pissed me off too.. It’s mostly because they do not want more people to easily use these devices as wi-fi phones. I use skype/skypeout as my land phone on my iTouch with an excellent 30$ wired mike sold in apple store. If more and more people buy the cheap iTouches, both Apple and ATT lose out as they cannot keep getting revenue-rich iPhone subscribers. Esp. because silicon valley cities where I am, have free wifi in most places already.
I guess Apple will eventually cave-in and offer a better BT experience maybe in a version 5 iTouch paid upgrade, but why not rake in the greens while they can.
