How to Make Your Own Free Ringtones
“Why pay for something when you can do it yourself?” Isn’t that the motto most of us live by? Cell phone ringtones are certainly no exception to this rule. Now with the ability to edit your songs from your collection for free, you can not only choose which audio file you want as your ringtone, but what section you want to listen to when your friends call you. No more purchasing pre-made ringtones from your carrier that do not even capture the part of the song you enjoy the most.

Upload Your Audio File
In addition to having a large customer-contributed cache of ringtones available on their website for direct download to your cell phone, you can upload your favorite audio file and create your own custom ringtone. Once uploaded, the online audio editor will guide you through choosing which section of the audio file you want to retain and become your ringtone. Remember, you’re not just limited to songs either. Any audio file will do, so get creative with your ringtone choices! Just keep in mind that there is a 15MB file size limit to each upload, but most audio files rarely exceed this size.
Determine Your Delivery Method
If you have Verizon Wireless service or internet access, you can receive your ringtones without a hitch. Even if you do not currently have internet access on your refurbished cell phone, you can still retrieve your free custom ringtone via the Bluetooth network or by connecting your cell phone to the computer via the USB cord. PhoneZoo has a very detailed help section which explains how to download the ringtone directly to your computer and then transfer the file to your cell phone.
Install Your Ringtone
Once the file has been transferred to your phone either from your computer or from the PhoneZoo website, read your cell phone manual to determine how to install your new custom ringtone. You can either assign the ringtone to all incoming calls, or you can create many different ringtones for each of your friends so that you know who is calling before you even look at the caller ID.
Share with Others
PhoneZoo has the wonderful option of sharing your ringtone with other users. Whether you want to do this is entirely up to you. For those of you who spent time and effort creating a unique ringtone, you may want to skip this option so that it remains your original creation.
