GPRS Question : How do we get charged when downloading ?
I am new to GPRS. I just enquired with my mobile service provider and they told they give unlimited browsing for a fixed monthly charge. They also told I have to pay extra for downloading games, ringtones etc. My question is it related to sites from where I download games ? I heard there are are sites where the games can be downloaded free like getjar.com, will I get charged accessing this site also ? If I have a personal site and I visit to download some files from it, will they charge ?
Or to rephrase the question How are mobile phone company monitoring downloading ? Is it by tie up with various sites like yahoo mobile etc or do they monitor the contents downloaded through network for charging ?
Dear it just depends from which site you are downloading the contents. As your network provider says that you will be charged a fix monthly amount for gprs it means that surfing is absolutely free and there is no extra charge. So if you download anyhting from a free website like max9.mcommunity.biz you will not be charged for any contents and you can enjoy free downloads. All you have to pay is the fix monthly charge to your netwrok provider for using the gprs service.
However if you are downloading anything from a chargeable website you will be charged as per the rate written against the content ( approx. Rs.10 for Wallpaper, Rs.15 for a ringtone and Rs.50 for a game)
